ASICS has been noticeably active in terms of its sneaker unveilings for this early quarter of the year, and now its footwear department will be further celebrating the art of Japanese craftsmanship with the arrival of its latest “Monozukuri” Pack — Unlike the 2020 “Monozukuri” capsule which only spotlighted the GEL-Lyte III, a duo of silhouettes are called upon here including the ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 and GEL-Kayano Trainer 21.
If one were to point out the most pronounced characteristics of each iteration, it would surely be the usage of muted neutral tones and premium fabrics.
The GEL-Kayano 14 is concocted with a stark black leather build and paired next to bright white accents that douse the exposed stitchings, laces, sock liners and side logos. More complementary hues are visible through the creamy heel overlays as well as the branded hits attached to the tongues and lateral heels which are dripped in dark red. The toned-down thematics proceed down under as the sole unit color-blocks between light beige backgrounds, stealthy GEL foam and white treading.
Switching gears to its sibling, the GEL-Kayano Trainer 21 is invented with a brighter motif as “Birch” wraps a majority of its base layer. Subtle angelic finishes inform the cage backdrops and heel panels, while the liners and are submerged in black. Further traits to call out include the tiny exposed hit of red is positioned near the ankle as well as the thicker beige shoe strings. The FluidRide-injected soles rely on white backgrounds, black GEL pods and tan outsoles to form its look.
