After its assortment of loose, textural tailoring for Fall/Winter 2020, Japanese brand Y.O.N. returns for Spring/Summer 2021 with ‘TAUPE’, a neutral collection designed to bring us closer to both nature and earth.
Deriving from the French noun taupe, the color’s different nuances can range from dark tan to greyish brown and a variety of shades in between. For SS21, Y.O.N. has opted for the more luminous shades of taupe, a decision that’s resulted in a sober tailored collection.
The tailored jacket — a garment that’s featured in most of the brand’s seasons — has been reinterpreted for SS21 with the introduction of waist seams and bell sleeves. The patchworks and metal detailing have been inspired by the clothing of Thai hill tribes, although the jacket arrives in neutral colors as opposed to the tribe’s traditional colorway.
Other items in the collection include shirts, trousers, waistcoats and a boxy T-shirt, all of which will also arrive in-keeping with the taupe theme. The full Y.O.N. SS21 collection is set to drop early next year and will be available from the brand’s online webstore.
