Nike‘s carefully-laid Tokyo Olympic Games plans may have been quashed by the COVID-19 coronavirus, but Games or no Games the Swoosh still has a swath of special Japanese releases ready to go — one piece of which is Nike Sportswear‘s “Hidden Message” pack. Set to see an early launch at BAIT‘s Japan outposts, the “Hidden Message” pack is made up of of vibrant Air Max 95s, Air Force 1s and Air Max 2090s with cut-away uppers that reveal metallic undertones.
All three silhouettes in the pack put forth an Olympic ring-esque color palette of yellow, red, black, green and blue. The Air Max 95 and Air Force 1 both take on “Olympic” colorways for a revival of NSW styles from 2004, but what’s underneath their tear-away outer layers is entirely unfamiliar. The Air Max 95 is a true mystery, with an unspecified ratio of gold, silver and bronze accents that’s different on every pair. Meanwhile, the Air Force 1 keeps its metal-tinted base layers uniform across the board. The Air Max 2090 interprets the collection’s ethos a touch differently, using its modern-day, semi-translucent TPE build to put colors both Olympic and metallic on display with no ripping or tearing necessary.
BAIT will release the Nike Sportswear “Hidden Message” pack on its Japanese webstore and two Japanese chapters in Shibuya and Parco on August 29. The collection will then hit global stockists at a later date.
Moving from Japan to the United Kingdom, size? has readied an exclusive “Hemp” iteration of Nike N. 354’s Air Zoom Type.
