When BEAMS and Salomon link up you usually expect to see high-tech hikers in compelling colorways, but now Japanese retail powerhouse and French footwear company are dropping an après-hike style: the RX Slide 3.0. Borrowing its palette from the two’s September XA PRO 3D GTX collaboration, the RX Slide 3.0 is all about cushy comfort, but is more than sturdy enough to take out and about as well.
Mule-style backless uppers are constructed of two mesh pieces, separated by a seam — tan on the left, olive on the right — running down the throat and veering off to the lateral forefoot . The left foot uses an olive-to-tan gradient on its outer half and a stark gray on its inner half, while the right foot does the inverse on its outer half with tan-to-olive details and adds a rich brown on the inner half. Each also boasts a reinforced black leather cap, black tabs and black collar trim.
Co-branded detailing appears on each brown footbed. Midsoles are made entirely of tan EVA foam, and are cored out in key areas to save weight. Intentionally or otherwise, this design choice works with the outole’s toothed black rubber patterns to make for a look that’s reminiscent of a tank’s tread. A final Salomon strike on these outsoles rounds off the look.
The BEAMS x Salomon RX Slide 3.0 is available for pre-order via the BEAMS webstore now, priced at a tax-included ¥ 9,900 JPY (approximately $96 USD). It’ll ship in early May 2021
