As C2H4 prepares its Fall/Winter 2020 collection, founder Yixi Chen has introduced a playful update to one of Nike‘s signature footwear styles. Inspired by the same influences drawn for another forthcoming C2H4 range, the Nike SB Dunk Low takes cues from punk culture for metal studs and musical accents.

Atop a gum sole and clean white midsole, Chen has reimagined a black suede Dunk Low with a bevy of thoughtful features that include C2H4 garment scraps repurposed for the toebox and small metal studs that appear across the upper and vamp. A chain dangles just high enough to skirt the ground while raw stitches sweep the floor, drawing the eye towards the custom Swoosh-shaped guitar that graces the lateral side of each sneaker. 3M musical notes and tongue tags add some pop to the laces and an embroidered “Yixi” graces the heels of each sneaker.

Chen has teased that if enough followers throw their weight behind the design, it may see general release – interested parties should visit Chen’s Instagram post below to show support.

Another handmade SB Dunk silhouette recently took the internet by storm: Bryce Wong’s bespoke SB Dunk High “Sashiko.”
