Jordan Brand often bequeaths rare school-specific PEs on the NCAA teams it sponsors, and recently the Air Jordan 1 has been the silhouette du jour for these collegiate squads. The UNC Tar HeelsMichael Jordan‘s alma mater — Florida Gators and Oklahoma Sooners have all received special AJ1s in recent months, and now the Georgetown Hoyas are joining in with their own luxurious style.

This Hoya-specific makeup is centered around a trio of luxe materials. Cracked white leather graces the quarter panels, with gray ostrich leather on the eyestays, mudguard and collar plus gray nylon tongues. The most potent tone and texture, however, are provided by a rich navy blue stingray leather on the toeboxes, heels, Swooshes and collar flaps.

On the left foot, the tongue tag’s Nike Air branding is swapped out for a Georgetown G, while the right foot retains its original motif. A gray ball-and-wings logo is stamped on each lateral collar flap, with white midsoles and navy blue outsoles finalizing the style.

Georgetown boasts a long and rich basketball legacy thanks to legendary coach John Thompson plus notable alumni like Allen Iverson and Patrick Ewing — the latter of whom’s New York Knicks were a fierce NBA Eastern conference rival to Jordan’s Chicago Bulls in the ’90s.

Jordan, James Worthy and the Tar Heels also vanquished Ewing and the Hoyas in the 1982 NCAA Championship Game, making this PE a somewhat cheeky homage to that memorable contest.

This style will never see a retail release as it’s a special makeup for members of the Hoyas’ squad and coaching staff — but if you’re looking for a unique Air Jordan that you can get your hands on, check out the new Air Jordan 1 Mid “Multicolor.”
