In 2014, Rizzoli published the first monograph on Hiroshi Fujiwara aka the “godfather of streetwear.” The book paid homage to Fujiwara’s influence across fashion, footwear, music and design. Recognized as one of the founding fathers of Tokyo’s Harajuku scene, the designer merged his interests in punk with hip-hop and skate culture to become one of the leading tastemakers in Japan and across the globe. In his decades-long career, he’s collaborated with plenty of major names including Malcolm McLaren and Vivienne Westwood while as a teenager in the early 1980s.

This November, Rizzoli will publish the second installment on Fujiwara called Fragment #2. The book chronicles the designer’s prolific career through 250 color photographs portraying his widely-recognized artwork and graphics, sneakers, product design and personal items. In addition to archival imagery, the tome contains visuals of his more recent collaborations with Louis Vuitton and Moncler alongside his longstanding work at Nike, Medicom and self-owned Tokyo-based label, fragment design.

“Commanding the hothouse environment of Harajuku, the street fashion and culture district of Tokyo, Hiroshi Fujiwara is recognized the world over as a pioneer in streetwear, music, and art and is the ultimate arbiter of cool,” said Rizzoli in a statement. Having added: “A musician and producer originally from western Japan, Fujiwara is one of the most prolific of sneaker designers, and his kicks remain some of the most sought-after collectibles.”

Hiroshi Fujiwara: Fragment #2 will release on Rizzoli’s website and select stockists this November for $60 USD.
