Johnny Depp has just taken to his Instagram to announce that he will not be returning as Gellert Grindelwald in the third installment of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. In his post, Depp mentions that Warner Bros. “asked” him to resign, a request to which he has now agreed to. This news comes just days after losing his libel case in the U.K regarding the Sun’s allegations that Depp abused his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The post goes on to read: “The surreal judgement of the court in the U.K. will not change my fight to tell the truth, and I confirm that I plan to appeal. My resolve remains strong and I intend to prove that the allegations against me are false. My life and career will not be defined by this moment in time.”
It has yet to be announced who will be Depp’s replacement as Grindelwald.
