Lee has just introduced a new release as part of its “Archives” series. This project takes iconic designs of the past from the classic American denim label and reproduces them for today.

This time around, Lee is taking it back to 1943 with the WWII Cowboy Pants and Jacket. For the vintage design, right twill denim was adopted instead of the iconic left twill denim that the brand is known for. This reproduction displays the brand’s history and cost-saving techniques that were used under challenging times during the war  – the chest pocket of the Cowboy Jacket is made as a round flap to simplify sewing. There was also the reduction of rivets, pleats, and the classic back buckle. These details carry on to the Cowboy Pants with iron fly buttons (zippers were reserved for the military back in the day), Lee-engraved “UFO” rivets on the pockets and crotch, and the removal of back pocket embroidery and stiffeners.

Priced at ¥30,000 JPY (around $290 USD) and ¥19,000 JPY (around $184 USD), respectively, the WWII Cowboy Pants and Jackets are available on Lee’s official online store and at select retailer.
