Following its first foray into apparel, Japanese accessories label master-piece is serving up two distinct bag collections for Spring/Summer 2021. Offered as part of the “Neo Work” and “Prime Casual” lines, the brand’s new lineup encompasses sophisticated silhouettes ideal for offices (even if they don’t fully reopen this year) and rugged outdoor play.

The former offering is imbued with clean lines and toned-down colors appropriate for matching to tailored business casual looks, imbued with master-piece’s usual rugged textiles and deep pockets ideal for storing files, laptops and even one’s lunch. Adjustable straps and convertible details abound: one smartbook-sized tote unfolds into a cushioned stand for easy daily access.

Meanwhile, Prime Casual adds additional elements of function, ranging from external mesh pockets to webbing straps that include space for clip-on attachments. Earthy tones reinforce the adventurous motif, bolstered by pops of color that enliven each roll-top, daypack or shoulder bag with retro hiking taste. Like Neo Work, these bags feature adjustable straps, convertible features and easy-access buckles to ensure stress-free packing, thought Prime Casual boasts its own exclusive shapes — like a water bottle-sized pouch with a sealable top and set of lightweight shoppers.

Shop the SS21 wares on master-piece’s website and at select stockists.

Elsewhere in Japan, BEAMS joined Jansport for a collaborative “Plus Pack.”
