Founded in 2001 by designer Tomohiro Konno — who also heads up Medicom Toy‘s Sync.NEXUSVII has developed its own vision of rugged apparel to a fine point over the past two decades, recently taking on the tact of channeling vintage motifs into contemporary silhouettes. Spring/Summer 2021 blends this motif with playful graphic prints, lightening up the textiles for warm weather.

Collaborative Gregory and stylized tiger camouflage take militaristic cues a step beyond mere reproduction, as bombers, souvenir jackets, field shirts and cargo pants are all recut to fit relaxed, yet trim. Tones of olive drab play amongst sandy beige and overdyed black, exploring distinct realms of neutrality without relying on milquetoast uniformity to ensure versatility. “THE NEXUSVII TIMES” prints are rendered atop clutch-style bags and sweaters, toying with The New York Times‘ signature masthead, but the goods are otherwise free from branding, relying instead on the depth of the dyes, bold pattern and cuts to tell the story.
