NOWNESS has just unveiled a sobering new video that offers an impression of the city of Wuhan in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The short film measures at approximately three minutes and 45 seconds and showcases scenes of empty streets and public transit stations in a city with a population of 11 million. Wuhan has been closed off since January 23, and its residents have “stood on the frontline of an unprecedented biosecurity emergency, which has led to the largest quarantine in human history.” To document this, drone technology, candid recordings and informative voiceovers have been strewn together, offering a rare view of the current state of the city during these peculiar times.
