Earlier this year, Sada Baby jumpstarted his 2020 with the surprise release of his new mixtape Brolik followed by the announcement that he’s no longer signed to Tee Grizzley’s ‘Grizzley Gang’ imprint. In his latest music video for “Slide,” directed by Jerry Production, the Detroit rapper returns with fire and fury, hopping out of an ambulance in all red and introducing listeners to some new stylistic ambitions: a dance record that retains the hard-hitting street rap that made Bartier Bounty so successful.
Sada stated during an Instagram Live video earlier this month:
“I just been in a f*cked up situation for two years where I thought people had the best interest for me and they didn’t. So now that I’m basically back at square one and get the chance to really do my 1-2 how I wanna do my 1-2, I don’t think a motherf*cker will have a choice but to understand what I am, you feel me? That’s why I’ve been dropping all these music videos recently, because I couldn’t drop all year. I am signed to Asylum [Records] only, I am not Grizzley Gang no more. The only contract my name is on is with Asylum now. I am no longer signed to Tee Grizzley and Affluent Management, R.I.P. JB, I love you baby.”
Sada Baby pays tribute to Tee Grizzley’s late manager and aunt Jobina “JB” Brown who tragically died in a shooting in Detroit last year.
As for the video, “Slide” features just under three minutes of Sada Baby’s high-energy bars, uninterrupted and undeterred by choruses. He also shows off some “Slide” dance moves that could easily make their way into a viral social media challenge at some point this year should the song garner enough of a following.
