Terrace Martin has teamed up with Denzel Curry, Kamasi Washington, G Perico and Daylyt for “PIG FEET”, a harrowing song that focuses on the injustices that all African Americans face today. The video to the new offering opens up with the statement, “The video to this song is happening right outside your window.”

“Someone asked, how do I feel? I told them hurt, fearless, angry, aware and fully ready to protect me, my family and my people at all cost,” Terrace said in a recent press release. “I got together with Black men that felt the same way and created a work of truth. PIG FEET.”

Artists the world over are responding to the national protests in America demanding police reform and political changes aimed at ending the systemic racism that has plagued the United States of America since its founding. The latest wave of mobilization comes after the most recent in an all-too-long list of extrajudicial killings of unarmed African Americans at the hands of law enforcement. The 46-year-old Minneapolis, Minnesota resident George Floyd died after now ex-officer Derek Chauvin fatally knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine consecutive minutes.

“Helicopters over my balcony/ If the police can’t harass, they wanna smoke every ounce of me/ Breath is alchemy, see how the life converted/ You tell me life’s a female dog, well I’m perverted/ Go to jail and get murdered/ Murder was the case they gave us/ Manipulate the system so the prison could save us,” Denzel raps in the opening verse.

Tomorrow, June 2, the music industry will partake in “Black Out Tuesday” in response to the murder. The hiatus is meant to show solidarity and recognize the “gatekeepers of the culture” and to reconnect with the community.
